At TWU, students often pursue degrees in health sciences, education, nursing, business, and liberal arts. In fact, the university graduates the highest number of new health care professionals of all colleges and universities in Texas. Smaller campuses are available in Dallas and Houston, and students can access more degree programs online each year. Research is a large part of the curriculum for most degree programs, and volunteering is a cornerstone to the culture, as well.

Students can expect to have a highly fulfilling and rewarding academic experience at TWU. Five sports are available at the collegiate level, a wide array of organizations and student clubs are offered to all students, and there are nearly endless leadership opportunities for students who wish to make their mark in an impactful manner prior to graduation.

As a public university, TWU students can expect to pay a lower average net price than at private schools, which at TWU is $9,830. As with most public universities, in-state tuition is significantly lower than out-of-state tuition at $7,926 and $18,055, respectively. Roughly 93% of students accept various forms of financial aid and students will require another $13,000 at minimum to pay for living expenses and classroom fees, books, and supplies.

These are not the only additional expenses TWU students can expect each year. These costs do not include the expenses of activities, adventures, and events outside of those offered by the university as part of tuition. It is common for students to take regional trips to nearby cities for entertainment and outdoor experiences. Many students also require additional funds for visits back home, car insurance, shopping, and more.

TWU is home to dozens of bachelor’s degrees, 70 master’s degree programs, and 23 doctoral degree programs. Students can expect a decent student-to-faculty ratio at 16 to 1 so that each individual has more one-on-one time with professors and instructors. Students have access to quality degrees with small class sizes, as well as a variety of research opportunities. It’s also possible to select from in-class, online, and hybrid courses. And because research is so prevalent in each degree program, students will be able to present their research at various conferences at a local, regional, national, and international level.

As a way to support students even further in their academic endeavors, TWU offers institutes and centers in nearly every educational department, including the Center for Global Nursing, Center for Women Entrepreneurs, Center for Student Leadership, Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy, Woodcock Institute, Institute for Women’s Health, and more. Despite so many opportunities, the graduation rate at TWU is quite low with only 22% graduating within four years and 43% within six years.

These low figures could be attributed to a number of reasons, such as students pursuing professional degrees, working while completing degrees, and possibly a lack of support from the school to ensure four-year graduation for students not in pursuit of professional degrees. However, keep in mind that nurses pass their licensure exam at a 92% rate and teachers pass their certification exam at a 94% when they complete such degree programs at TWU.

To ensure graduates have the best chance for career success, the university offers a Career Connections Center. The center provides several services to help students make the transition from student life to a working professional. Once a student declares a major, they can begin taking advantage of the many opportunities, including career planning, resume assisting, salary negotiating, custom advising, and much more.

Both online and on-campus students can utilize the career center, as well as workshops, webinars, career fairs, networking events, and job postings. The university offers over 100 employment events and activities each year and all students can participate in career-focused internships. Within a year of graduation, 84% of students are employed or participating in a professional or graduate degree program. Some such employers include Nationwide, Nestle Purina, Sky Ranch, museums, research labs, and others.
