Overview of Eastern University
The school began in 1925 under the name Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Over the years, a collegiate division was added. In 1972, it became Eastern College. The name changed one last time, in 2001, to what we now know as Eastern University. The Seminary received a new name in 2005, Palmer Theological Seminary.
At Eastern, students get the opportunity to participate in service and enrichment projects like Habitat for Humanity, prison ministry, mission trips, and many others. They have numerous locations throughout Pennsylvania. The 114-acre main campus is in St. Davids. There are also campuses in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and one in Ripley, West Virginia. Additionally, Eastern has remote sites in a variety of international and suburban locations.
