Tuition Cost & Financial Aid

When it comes to educational and academic value, it's vital to assess the financial investment involved in a college education. Kutztown University provides a terrific value, in no small part based on the fact that it is a publicly funded institution. For Pennsylvania residents, the in-state tuition is right around $12,500. Out-of-state tuition is a bit more, but $16,500 is still competitive with many public and private universities. When living expenses are added to the tally, Pennsylvania residents see a total gross educational cost of $28,500 and out-of-state students pay around $32,500.

The net price is another matter, however. In fact, the average net price for a year at Kutztown University, inclusive of all estimated living expenses is $22,500. The lower-income students see an average net cost of $17,000 while households with income over $110,000 have an average net educational cost of $27,000. Given the high quality of academics at KU, the net cost indicates a terrific value overall.

Academics

Students at Kutztown University find that they are the recipients of a terrific academic value. This satisfaction is reflected by the university's educational statistics, such as the retention and graduation rates. The retention rate measures how many first-time, full-time students return for a second year. Those who return are thought to be satisfied with their professors, the curriculum, campus facilities, and the general academic environment. Kutztown University posts a stellar retention rate of 74% for its full-time students and 40% for part-timers.

The retention rate predicts very good things since the overall graduation rate is 54% with 32% reported as transferring to other institutions. Since most transfer students seek more challenging or specific academic programs at other universities, it's clear that Kutztown University has helped them prepare for further academic achievements. It can be thus assumed that nearly 86% of KU's students graduate with a university degree as a direct result of courses in Kutztown.

Part of this success can be attributed to the fact that for every 18 Kutztown University students there is one faculty member. Average class sizes are thus expected to be quite small, particularly once students reach the upper-level major courses that will inform their early careers.
