Overview of Maharishi International University
The degree offerings at Maharishi are in-demand and similar to those at more traditional colleges and universities. A few of the primary differences is that the school offers consciousness-based education centering around transcendental meditation, personal growth, self-knowledge, sustainability, and natural health and wellness, in addition to a top education. The campus also focuses on culture, mindfulness, organic and vegetarian meals, and innovation. Overall, the university aims to prepare students to provide innovative and effective solutions in an enlightened manner, addressing government challenges, criminal and behavioral activities, societal issues, and much more.
This academic approach also uses a block system that is designed to offer immersion courses of no more than one per month, with custom teaching techniques. Between the block system and transcendental meditation, it has been proven that students retain and learn at much faster rates, without much of the stress and anxiety often related to traditional programs. Some of the most popular degrees include sustainable business, regenerative organic agriculture, art, accounting, computer science, and creative writing.

Tuition Cost & Financial Aid
Despite the fact that Maharishi International University is a private higher learning institution, the tuition is far more affordable than most similar colleges and universities. Both in-state and out-of-state tuition have the same price tag of $16,530 each year. Another $12,000 or so is necessary to pay for everyday living expenses such as room and board, supplies, class fees, books, and others. Students who would like to take day trips or to participate in activities and events off-campus will require additional funds, as well.
To help make the cost of classes less of a financial burden, almost 95% of students take advantage of financial aid packages. These packages result in an average net price for tuition of around $13,300. Financial aid comes in the form of grants, loans, and scholarships. These can be earned based on need or academic interest. Many students also secure work-study positions or paid jobs on or off-campus.

The type of degrees available include bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, PhDs, and certificates. Students can select from dozens of programs within several highly regarded departments such as art, business administration, cinematic arts, English, exercise and sport sciences, physics, and sustainable and regenerative living.
Students can also choose to design their own major based on the existing coursework and program offerings for a more specialized educational experience. Maharishi has some of the most exclusive and in-demand degree programs in the world. In fact, they were the first higher learning institution to offer a number of sustainable and regenerative programs in the country. Today, they are beginning to offer more and more degree programs online including sustainable business, aromatherapy, screenwriting, business analytics, and more.
The fresh and innovative approach of using a block system at Maharishi is advancing graduates at a much faster rate. It has been proven that this immersion approach is far more effective as a way to retain information and eliminate stress and anxiety.
Program participants can expect four-year and six-year graduation rates of 44% and 67%, respectively. Both rates, particularly the six-year rate, are in line with the national average. The retention rate is 56% and the student-to-faculty ratio is 11 to 1. Such a low ratio also helps students to receive more attention and better grades as a result.
