UoPeople is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission and the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). In 2020, the University of the People in Arabic was initiated to provide associate and degree programs in business administration and offer comprehensive English training to Arabic-speaking scholars.

Students are required to complete 40 courses to graduate with a bachelor's degree at the University of the People. Faculty members and other qualified instructors provide different courses online, with each academic instructor tutoring about 20 to 30 students. These courses are offered in a well-structured curriculum extracted from Open Educational Resources (OERs). This ensures students have free and open access to educational resources that are tailored to their needs.

UoPeople Tuition Cost & Financial Aid


The University of the People does not charge tuition or mandatory fees. However, students are requested to pay a voluntary fee to help cover their education costs. Students who come from a good financial background are also requested to contribute an assessment fee of $120 for undergraduate courses, $200 for certificate programs, and $300 for graduate degree programs.

Through UoPeople’s collaborations with the University of Edinburgh, Effat University, and McGill University, brilliant UoPeople students can be admitted free of charge to these partner institutions and be eligible to receive scholarships and financial aid.
