West Virginia University at Parkersburg is a valuable part of their community and the state of West Virginia in general. Since the college was founded in 1961, it has provided a way for community members to advance their education and raise their career prospects, too. WVU-P does not, however, post its retention rates. However, since this is a community college, such numbers don't often paint an accurate picture of the college anyway.
They do post graduation numbers, however. WVU-P graduates 21% of its first-time, full-time students. They also see a 10% transfer-out rate. Since transfer students generally move to larger institutions, it can be assumed that WVU-P has prepared them for this new challenge. Thus, 31% of students can be assumed to receive a diploma on the back of their community college education.
Given that WVU-P boasts a student-to-faculty ratio of 14 to 1, it's clear that students are privy to an academic environment that is encouraging and helpful. Though entry-level courses may have more students, by the time students reach their upper-level major concentration courses the student-to-faculty ratio may be even better than 14:1.
