Tuition Cost & Financial Aid
Chadron's academic programs are already a terrific value no matter the financial cost. However, students need to budget for their education. Since the College is a public institution, it’s more affordable than a private school. In fact, Chadron stands apart from other public schools by only charging out-of-state students a mere $30 more for tuition. Thus, every student at Chadron pays less than $10,000 for their tuition, books, supplies, and fees. When living expenses are added to the tally, the gross total cost for a year at Chadron is under $23,000. Note that this sort of value savings is generally unheard of outside of states that participate in the Western Undergraduate Exchange program.
This terrific value is made even sweeter once the financial aid office works its magic. The average net price for a year at Chadron, including living expenses, is a mere $14,000. Those in the lowest income bracket pay only $12,000 for a year and those in households that earn over $110,000 pay under $17,000. Given Chadron's top-notch academics, this is a fantastic value.

Chadron State College prides itself on providing excellence in both academics and student experiences. This dedication is proven in Chadron's educational statistics. One key figure is the retention rate, which measures how many first-time, full-time students return to Chadron after their first year. Another important measure is the graduation rate, which is augmented by the transfer-out rate.
In fact, Chadron posts a 71% retention rate, which makes them competitive with most any college or university in Nebraska or elsewhere in the nation. This strong figure is further bolstered by the school's graduation rate. The overall graduation rate for Chadron is a strong 45%, which is bolstered by a 38% transfer rate. Since transfer students need strong academics to move on to more competitive institutions, it's clear that Chadron prepares approximately 83% of its students for graduation on their campus or elsewhere.
These impressive academic numbers are surely due in no small part to Chadron's average class size of 14 and their 17:1 student-to-faculty ratio. When students can access their instructors and aren't hiding in the back of huge lecture halls, they can be fully engaged with the material. Furthermore, once students reach their upper-level major courses they can dig deeper and collaborate with their peers and professors with greater ease.
