At CSU, the leaders work to create an overall exceptional academic, personal, and professional experience by providing support in a variety of areas including study abroad programs, community outreach, mentorships, and more. Students will have access to over 100 student organizations and clubs, 30 non-profit organizations, whitewater rafting, bike trails, and professional groups. And don’t forget about the available sports, student government, counseling, and health services.

The campus is an ideal mix of student life and education. Students will be able to pursue over 75 programs at several degree levels including art, sciences, IT, cyber security, criminal justice, kinesiology, management, music, psychology, and many others. It’s also possible for students to participate in ROTC here, as well as in various campus centers and institutes for additional learning and experiential opportunities.

As a public higher learning institution, CSU offers lower annual tuition for in-state students than for out-of-state students at rates of $6,241 and $17,295, respectively. Ninety-two percent of students accept some type of student aid to help lower the net average price to $11,361. The types of student aid could come in the form of scholarships from the university or a variety of business scholarships, government grants, or student loans. Another $14,000 or so will be required to pay for supplies, books, room and board, and other various charges.

In addition to student financial aid, students will often accept part-time jobs or work study to help pay for daily living expenses and to reduce the overall amount of financial assistance necessary. These funds are also used by many students as a way to pay for day trips, weekend getaways, streaming services, transportation, trips home, and more.

CSU encourages students to pursue their interests and passions as professions. The school is home to over 75 degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. However, even more programs are available, including combined BS to MS degree programs, certificates, endorsements, minors, pre-professional programs, and nexus degrees.

The majority of degree offerings cover nearly everything, from STEM-related programs and art to business and history. Nexus degrees are available in Cybersecurity of FinTech and Film Production. And pre-professional programs exist in a variety of fields including law, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and physical and occupational therapy.

Even more academic opportunities are available to provide CSU students with greater advantages. Dual enrollment is an option for high school students to pursue college credit in high school. An honors college is open to those who perform exceptionally well in the CSU academic environment. The programs UTeach and Camp P.R.O.W.L are further options, as well as some life-changing and inspiring study abroad opportunities. And don’t forget the online degree alternatives and military student benefits.

The current student-to-educator ratio is 18 to 1, and roughly 40% of classes have under 20 students. These perks no doubt help to contribute to the decent retention rate of 72%. Unfortunately, the four-year and six-year graduation rates of 15% and 40% are not as desirable. In part, some of the reasons for such low results could be due to the fact many students take courses part-time rather than full-time or that the school enrolls a high number of active military students.

As a way to help students secure job opportunities upon graduation, the university offers a Center for Career Development. Within this center, students will be able to begin job preparation skills at any point throughout their education including resume and interview preparation, career advising, access to webinars, and much more. Students can also pursue job shadowing, internships, externships, co-ops, mentorships, and career fair preparation.

Today, students can utilize all tools and resources remotely if necessary. They can also seek out professional groups, community engagement, and volunteer with one of the 30 non-profit organizations in affiliation with the school. Employers regularly reach out to the center directly, as well.
