Tuition Cost & Financial Aid

Since Fairfield University is a private institution of higher learning, their costs are a bit more than those at a publicly-funded school. Their outstanding academics make up for the difference, but it’s important to evaluate educational costs prior to enrollment. For a year at Fairfield, students pay over $50,000, which includes tuition, books, supplies, and fees. When all living expenses are tallied, that number grows to $68,000. However, this is only the gross cost, the full story includes the post-financial aid price.

Once the financial aid office works its magic, the net price for a year at Fairfield comes down considerably. In fact, the average net price is only $40,000, which accounts for all supplies, books, and even living expenses. For the lowest income households, the number is around $30,000. At the upper end, households that earn over $100,000 pay an average net price of $43,000 for a year at Fairfield.

Academics

Fairfield University is a private institution of higher learning that follows in the rich tradition of top-notch Northeastern colleges and universities. They have maintained accreditation by the New England Commission of Higher Education since 1953 and are still going strong. Their reputation is further reflected in the educational statistics they report. One of the chief statistics is their favorable student-to-teacher ratio of 12 to 1, which is among the best in the nation. This statistic means that students can receive the one-on-one attention they need for maximum comprehension.

Academic success is also measured by the retention and graduation rates. The retention rate measures how many first-time, full-time students return for a second year. At Fairfield, 90% of students express their satisfaction by returning for a second year.

Fairfield's graduation statistics are perhaps even more impressive. The university boasts an 83% graduation rate, with 80% graduating within four years. To that, Fairfield adds a 15% transfer rate. Since students most often transfer to more competitive schools, it's clear that Fairfield provides a solid foundation for success. Those transfer students can be presumed to be diploma-bound, so Fairfield can be said to produce a 98% success rate, when measured in diplomas.
