Tuition Cost & Financial Aid
Due to the fact that Fairleigh Dickinson University is a private higher learning institution, it has a higher average net price than most public schools at $23,675 annually. Both out-of-state and in-state students will be charged $44,720 for tuition. FDU is also more expensive than many private schools for a variety of reasons, including the cost of living in the region. Fortunately, financial assistance is widely available in the form of grants, student loans, scholarships, and more. An estimated 100% of all students receive some type of financial aid.
Students should establish an additional budget of at least $18,000 a year to be able to pay for basic classroom expenses not associated with tuition, as well as living costs. A budget should also be created for entertainment and discretionary expenditures such as nights out, restaurants, streaming services, shopping, concerts, sporting events, and much more.

Academics
A primary goal of FDU is to provide students a variety of different, global, and unique living and learning experiences throughout their academic career. As a result, students have access to four distinct colleges within which to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees at Fordham. However, students can also pursue additional degrees at alternative campuses including in other New Jersey cities; Vancouver, Canada; and Oxfordshire, England.
The available academic departments include accounting, education, communication, film and animation, government and law, international hospitality and tourism management, and history. A number of specialized programs also exist to meet the needs of the growing number of adult students and exceptional students. An honors program is available, and a continuing studies college exists for nontraditional students. FDU also partners with various community colleges in New Jersey to make the transfer process a bit easier.
The faculty-to-student ratio is quite good at 1 to 13 throughout the entire university. The retention rate is also respectable at 85%; however, the four-year and six-year graduation rates are a bit low at 46% and 63% respectively. These figures could be due to a larger number of non-traditional students who might work full-time as they attempt to finish their degrees. It might also be that FDU does not offer enough student support for daily classes and degree planning to ensure students graduate in a timely manner. Or low numbers may be associated with the high cost of the school.
