Tuition Cost & Financial Aid

Since Miami University – Oxford is a public institution, in-state students find that their world-class education comes with a relatively small price tag. The total expenses for on-campus (and off campus) Ohioan students is $33,800 while their out of state peers face a stiffer bill of $53,800. However, after all loans, grants, and scholarships are factored in, the net cost is an average of $23,000. That figure is lower for low-income students, who see a net cost of $14,000. On the other end of the spectrum, students from households with income over $110,000 pay a net amount of $28,000. These lower net costs are due to financial aid packages.

For instance, Pell Grants provide an average of $4,600 and other federal grants chip in $4,900. On top of that, institutional scholarships and grants kick in $11,000 and then students take out federal student loans of around $5,000 each. Miami University – Oxford is thus affordable for almost any ambitious student.

Academics

Miami University – Oxford enjoys a terrific academic reputation which is borne out by its statistics. When we reviewed its retention rate, graduation rates, and student-to-faculty ratio, it was hard to not be impressed. The school’s retention rate is 92%, a figure that many public universities aspire to. The retention rate is highly valued because it indicates that a high number of incoming first-year students return for a second year. The implication is that they find a high quality of education, stellar campus resources, and an overall nurturing campus environment.

Miami University continues impressing researchers who also find high graduate numbers. That is, a staggering 81% of incoming students cross the stage for a diploma after four to six years. Seventy five percent of part-time students do likewise. Though Miami University – Oxford is a large institution, students can find a cohesive experience and find familiar faces for all four years.

Not only do the numbers reflect positively on the bookends of a college career, but they show that all the time in between is high quality, as well. While MU has over 17,000 undergraduate students, they manage to maintain a student-to-faculty ratio of 13:1. Few small private colleges can boast that sort of academic intimacy. Thus, students find their instructors accessible and eager to help them learn, grow, and thrive.
