NFC Tuition Cost & Financial Aid

North Florida College works hard to ensure the cost of attending is affordable. In fact, it is considered one of the most affordable colleges in the state. The institution has also refrained from increasing tuition rates for the past five years.

In-state students enrolled in 15 credit hours per term over a two-semester academic year will be charged $3,084 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students, on the other hand, will pay a higher rate of $12,018 for the same course load. This equates to approximately $100 per semester hour for residents and $396 for non-residents.

In addition to the cost of tuition, those interested in attending North Florida College should plan to pay for books, supplies, room, board, personal expenses, and transportation. The institution projects most students will spend $1,400 on academic materials, $1,100 on personal items, and $1,800 on transportation. The cost of room and board can vary, however, with dependents spending approximately $1,500 and independents spending $5,400. Overall, in-state students should budget between $8,884 and $12,784 per academic year, while out-of-state students should budget between $17,818 and $21,718.

The college does boast a resourceful staff that will do their best to help students find ways to pay for college including tuition payment plans, financial literacy workshops, student employment opportunities, and assistance completing financial and ands scholarship applications. While awards are made throughout the year, funds may be limited. As a result, students are encouraged to start the financial aid process as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Prospective students can seek various types of financial aid including federal grants, state grants, loans, work study positions, and outside assistance. All students are encouraged to fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In total, 91% of those enrolled at the school receive some type of financial aid.

The institution can award associate in arts degrees, associate in science degrees, and baccalaureate degrees, as well as career and technical certificates.

Students can choose from associate in arts and associate in science degree, as well as numerous college credit, career, and technical certificates.

Most options fall into one of the following academic program areas:

  • Business and Social Science
  • Communications and Literature
  • Developmental Education and Student Life Skills
  • History, Humanities, Fine Arts, and Foreign Languages
  • Mathematics
  • Natural Science

It’s important to realize that North Florida College offers only one bachelor of science degree. The only major available is nursing and the program is 100% virtual. There is also only a single associate in arts degree, although it is part of the state’s 2+2 articulation agreement. This guarantees all students who successfully complete the program the opportunity to enroll and earn bachelor’s degrees at one of Florida’s 11 state universities. Many may find this a significantly less expensive way to gain a four-year degree, as the cost of tuition at North Florida College is lower than other schools in the area.

Additionally, the institution has a well-developed distance learning program, which offers flexibility for students who cannot complete their coursework on campus. As mentioned above, the bachelor of science degree in nursing is available online, as is the associate in arts degree. Distance learners can also enroll in associate in science degrees in accounting technology, business administration, and criminal justice technology.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the overall graduation rate for full-time, first-time degree or certificate-seeking students who began their studies in fall 2015 was 60%, with 13% of tracked students transferring out before their final academic year. This data is significant, as it highlights the percentage of students who succeeded in earning their degrees or certificates within 150% of the standard completion time. Notably, only 31% of entering students fit the criteria and could be counted in this survey.
