Academics

The overall goal of Northwest Florida State College leadership is to ensure students are properly prepared to enter and succeed in the workforce regardless of the degree program. All degree programs are designed to make sure graduates are highly in-demand and marketable. The most common majors include business, education, health sciences, STEM, and social and behavioral sciences. Additional popular programs include public safety, arts, humanities, communication, design, industry, manufacturing, and construction.

These majors are available at the associate and bachelor’s degree levels. Most students pursue associate degrees and choose to either join the workforce at an entry-level position or to transfer to one of NWF State College’s four-year bachelor’s degree options. It is also possible to transfer to another four-year college or university if the desired degree is not available. Certificate programs are another option, including a short-term college credit certificate or career and technical certificates. These certificates are designed for entry-level jobs and career advancement.

Specialty programs are also available for high school students and military service personnel. These programs offer subsidized education rates. All students can also choose between in-person, hybrid format, online educational opportunities, and fast-track programs are available in select programs. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1 to 24 with a 35% graduation rate. While the graduation rate is around the national average, the lower number is likely reflective of the fact many students are in high school, the armed forces, or working while they pursue higher education.
