Academics
The aim of Pfeiffer is to reinvent the learning experience in liberal arts for each student one at a time, along with creating natural, confident leaders. Students will have the opportunity to pursue undergraduate, graduate, and professional certificate programs. The academic divisions available to all students include business, education, arts and sciences, and applied health sciences.
Each program offers the most current curriculum. Graduates of the business division go on to become corporate leaders in any number of fields. Education students benefit from a highly in-demand program, as demonstrated by the almost 100% job placement rate. The arts and sciences students will excel in critical thinking, analyzing, and communicating in an ever-changing professional environment. And the applied health sciences students participate in a full immersion approach to education centered around client care, integrity, human dignity, and compassion.
Students have access to various centers and institutes that improve the likelihood of employment upon graduation and the development of personal growth including the Center for Professional Advancement, servant leadership, marriage and family therapy, the Office of Teaching, Learning and Innovation, and more. Online educational opportunities continue to increase in availability such as big data management, cyber forensics, teaching licensure certificates, and others.
Despite the 13 to 1 student-to-faculty ratio and the many support systems in place to help guide students to a career pathway to success, the retention rate and graduation rates are quite low. The retention rate is only 59%, and the 4-year and 6-year graduation rates are 37% and 44%, respectively. It’s possible that these rates are less-than-desirable due to various factors such as the high cost of the programs, the limited degree offerings, or that students do not take as many courses at one time because they work full-time while pursuing certificates or higher learning opportunities.
