The University of Houston – Downtown boasts the lowest tuition of any higher education institution in Houston. The school’s competitive rates offer prospective students an opportunity to receive an excellent education at an affordable rate, while also having less debt after graduation.

In Fall 2020, the undergraduate tuition rate for Texas residents was $238.25 per credit hour. Non-resident students, on the other hand, paid $647.25 per credit hour. Additional mandatory fees are also required, including fees for advising, computer use, library use, records services, student service, wellness and success services, and extended access and support. This means in-state students paid approximately $4,301 and out-of-state students paid $10,436 in tuition and fees for a single semester. Also, some colleges charge additional fees per credit hour, such as the colleges of Business, Science and Technology, and Public Service.

The University of Houston – Downtown offers a variety of financial aid programs for both undergraduate and graduate students. Aid options include scholarships, grants, loans, and government-funded work-study. From these, there are 44 bachelor’s degrees and nine master’s degrees offered. There are also 15 undergraduate degree-completion programs and four fully online master’s degree programs available for distance learners.

Specifically, these rates show how many enrolled students chose to return to the college to continue their studies for a second year. Another important statistic to keep in mind is the graduation rate. Commonly referred to as the “Student Right to Know”, graduate rates are kept to show whether or not first-time students enrolled full-time are able to complete their degree or certificate programs within a standard amount of time (typically considered to be four years). University of Houston – Downtown has a number of helpful career and job search resources available for students, including the Jobs4Gabors career services management system. This system is designed to help connect graduates with employers. Students can upload their resumes and easily search for employment and internship opportunities. The school also provides pre-job search prep and job search checklists. Periodically, the main Career Center hosts career fairs to allow students and employers to meet in person.
