CTU is at the vanguard of higher education in that it offers students numerous online degree options. Among their more popular online degree options are four-year bachelor degrees in computer science, criminal justice, healthcare management, and logistics, among many others. After undergrad is over, students stay on the online platform for their MBA, master's in computer science, or even a doctor of computer science.

Students who are eager to get started with a career may also elect to pursue an online associate degree through CTU. There are two-year, online degrees available in accounting, business administration, health administration services, and management. In fact, all of those associate degree programs are also available on campus, with the exception of health administration services.

Online degree options really explode when it comes time for graduate work. Students can pursue business management with concentrations in fields such as information systems security, IT and project management, organizational leadership, project management, and public administration, among other options. Students can also study nursing, criminal justice, computer science, cyber security, and data science from the location of their choosing.

Though CTU has embraced technology, their offerings are not an either/or proposition. Graduate students can pursue their degree by blending traditional classroom courses with online work. This blend can facilitate the demands of a job or family.

As a private institution, CTU's academic costs are expected to be significantly higher than those offered by Colorado's public colleges and universities. This expectation is accurate in that the total cost for a year of tuition, books, and fees runs students around $14,000 per year. On top of that, living expenses are estimated to run students around $10,000 per year. Presumably, those living costs reflect living in Colorado Springs. Regardless, the total gross costs for a year at CTU are reported at $24,000. However, the financial aid office is able to mitigate these expenses somewhat.

After the financial aid office applies grants and scholarships, the average overall cost to attend CTU, including room and board, is $17,000. Lower income students pay slightly less than that, while those households who earn over $110,000 see an average net price of $22,000. Online students may be able to mitigate these costs a bit by choosing a town that is less expensive. They may also reduce costs by eliminating a need to commute to school.

Colorado Technical University is a somewhat non-traditional institution with a heavy focus on online education. So far, online students have a higher attrition rate, though our collective experience with COVID-era education may change that. Nevertheless, researchers found good value at CTU when they evaluated the retention rate, graduation rate, and transfer-out rate.

The retention rate is an educational statistic that shows how many first-time, full-time students return to campus for a second year. CTU's retention rate is a very respectable 48%, with 28% of part-time students returning for a second year. This retention rate is especially impressive given that CTU offers an open enrollment policy that has no firm testing or degree requirements for new students. The graduation rate, however, falls to 23%. The institution does not report its transfer-out rate, perhaps due to the nature of online education, but that is not known.

CTU's academic standing is bolstered by their accreditation. The school has held accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission since 1980, and its undergraduate nursing program has held programmatic accreditation from CNURED since 2014.

Colorado Technical University at Colorado Springs delivers terrific scholastic outcomes for its students, and that excellent academic foundation pays off in the working world. When researchers took a look at alumni earnings, they were very pleased with what they found. The CTU alumni who lead the pack in terms of entry level median income are the information technology students who report median earnings of $75,000. Of the top earners, the business administration students take up the rear, with reported median earnings of $47,000. Of the top five earning majors, the middle spot is held by computer science alums whose reported median earnings are $63,000.
