Total enrollment is 6,541, of which approximately 5,739 are pursuing undergraduate degrees. This number may not reflect all of the adult learners studying online. The college also employs 250 full-time and 227 part-time faculty members, all of whom provide instruction. This makes the student-to-faculty ration 18:1, with an average class size of 25.

At Monroe College, undergraduate tuition is based on and the number of credit hours taken. The cost per credit hour is $643 or, for those enrolled full-time (12-18 hours), the cost per semester is $7,716. Rates are the same for in-state and out-of-state students. Tuition is different for graduate students, however, who pay $902 per credit hour or $6,250 per semester when enrolled in seven credit hours. Alternatively, those taking nine credit hours of classes pay $8,993. Notably, earning a second master’s degree from Monroe College is less expensive, as the cost per credit hour is only $524.

It's important to note some programs cost more than others. This is the case for nursing students, for example. Military students, however, can attend at discounted rates. Tuition for online classes is also slightly lower than the cost of taking classes on campus.

In addition to the cost of tuition, Monroe College also charges a wide variety of fees. Students are also responsible for books, supplies, room, meals, and transportation. The school estimates that undergraduate commuter students will pay a total of $13,221 per semester during the 2022-2023 academic year. Those living in dormitories are expected to pay $16,971 per semester, while online students in the United State will pay $12,891 per semester. International online students, however, are expected to pay only $8,057.

The institution is dedicated to helping students cover the cost of education. Notably, Monroe College’s Presidential Partnership Programs is among the most effective programs in New York for low-income and undocumented students. It accepts 1,000 students a year in order to increase college access, affordability, and outcomes. The school also offers 27 million dollars in scholarships and grants each year.

Prospective students can seek various types of financial aid including grants, scholarships, work study, and loans. All students are encouraged to fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA, after which an aid package can be generated. In total, 94% of those enrolled at the school receive some type of financial aid. While most assistance comes in the forms of grants and scholarships, 41% of students still require loans in order to attend.

Students can choose degrees at the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s levels, as well as some certificate programs. Additionally, the institution has well-developed academic options for adult and English as a second language (ESL) learners. For first-time, full-time students who began pursuing bachelor’s degrees at Monroe College in fall 2019, the retention rate was 80%. Retention for part-time students during this same timeframe was 69%. These statistics show that most students were pleased with their academic experiences enough to return for a second year of school in 2020.

The overall graduation rate in 2020 was 57%, with 24% of tracked students transferring out before their final academic year. It’s worth mentioning that only 34% of entering students fit the criteria for this survey, as the only individuals counted were first-time students attending the university full-time. This data is significant because it highlights the percentage of students who succeed in earning their degrees or certificates within 150% of the standard completion time. Notably, the institution’s graduation rate is among the highest in the country for students receiving Pell Grants.

Monroe College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), which is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Institution accreditation was most recently affirmed in 2020. The college also offers many programs that have received specialized accreditation from state, regional, and/or national professional associations and boards. The institution has a well-developed career services department that works to empower students and alumni to engage in strategic exploration, preparation, and action towards a lifetime of meaningful work.
