Academics
Five colleges are available at Norwich University including science and mathematics, professional schools, national services, liberal arts and graduate, and continuing studies. Several schools are available within the colleges including nursing, architecture, art, business, and engineering. Students can pursue bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, continuing education, and certificates. Many students are considered lifeline learners. Popular majors vary from one college to another and include criminal justice, naval science, cyber security, and many others.
Each program centers around cross-discipline training, collaboration, practical skill development, and experiential learning. The courses combine academic challenges alongside ethical, empathy, and core values-driven lessons. Norwich is considered to have an excellent internationalized education program, as well as enrichment opportunities.
Several partnerships are also available to provide even greater learning experiences, such as with the Institute for Public Procurement. Online courses provide custom curriculum to cater to each individual’s needs, particularly for C-suite executives. And, each year more and more cyber security and IT degree programs are made available to meet the current growing demand for these professionals.
The retention rate of the school is better than many at 79%. The timely graduation rates of four and six years, however, are less than ideal for full-time students at 50% and 61%, respectively. One of the explanations for lower graduation rates could be attributed to the high number of online students and active military personnel. The student-to-educator ratio of 1 to 16 is likely a positive contributing factor to the strong retention rate.
