North Florida University students will be able to pursue a wide array of academic endeavors through an assortment of dedicated colleges including health, business, arts and sciences, education and human services, exploratory and computing, engineering and construction. The most popular colleges are the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, and the College of Health.
In addition to traditional classroom and coursework offerings, students will have access to a number of programs, centers, institutes, and programs to provide a more versatile educational experience. Community and global engagement opportunities are available to expand the horizons of all participating students. An honors college accepts the most academically successful students so that all individuals at all academic levels remain challenged throughout the duration of their college experience. The many centers and institutes include technology and management, the environment, fine arts, pre-law, instruction and research technology, and the Florida Institute of Education and a Center for Ethics, Public Policy, and the Professions.
The retention rate of NFU is quite strong at 83%. However, the four-year and six-year graduation rates are somewhat low at 35% and 61%, respectively. These low figures could be directly related to the number of professional degree students and active military students as they often take longer than full-time, traditional students. The six-year rate is at least as high as the national average. The school also has a somewhat high faculty-to-student ratio of 1 to 19 that may not provide students with as much attention as they require to graduate in a more timely manner.
