One of the primary focuses of Wilmington is to ensure degree programs focus on career preparation and development rather than education alone, as well as providing the tools necessary for students to exceed their own expectations. Degrees are available at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Program offerings are flexible to work with the life of students rather than forcing them to work around a school schedule.

All student types are welcome. Wilmington is considered one of the most military friendly in the country, as well as favorable to transfer students by accepting up to 90 transfer credits. The school is one of the most affordable private schools. Thirteen locations are available between New Jersey and Delaware for even greater convenience. Students can choose from over 200 degree and certificate programs to meet the needs of almost any individual. And the school offers small class sizes with an emphasis on experiential and collaborative education.

Wilmington University has one of the lowest tuition rates for a private, higher learning institution at $11,480 for both out-of-state and in-state students. Service members can expect to pay less than civilian students, and international students can expect to pay more than everyone else. Regardless of the base per credit fee, all students will require another $10,000 or so to pay for basic living costs, supplies, and books. An even larger budget will be necessary for those who wish to explore the region, go out to eat off-campus, take trips home, etc.

As a way to help minimize the cost of higher education, roughly 63% of students accept some form of financial aid such as grants, scholarships, and student loans. Another way students reduce the amount of money they owe upon graduation is to work as they complete courses. The university offers assistance with finding all employment types, from work study to full-time jobs.

As part of the over 200 certificates and degrees, students will be able to pursue degrees in nearly any field or industry including art, communication, marketing, business, management and administration, education, finance, health and nursing, human services, information technology, law, public policy, corrections and security, and STEM degrees. The school often recommends examining degrees in specific areas of interest for each student.

Degrees are available at every level, from associate degrees to professional degrees and certificates. It is even possible to complete non-credit-based programs. Students can also pursue various classroom learning methodologies such as traditional classrooms, online, hybrid, fusion, and flex courses. Regardless of the type of learning environment one selects, all students will have access to hands-on experience, including co-ops and internships, and group work for the best chance at success. And the university allows dual enrollment so that high school students can earn college credits as they work to finish their high school diploma.

At Wilmington University, they have decent retention rates but lower than usual graduation rates. The retention rate is 60%; whereas, the four-year graduation rate is only 13% and the six-year graduation rate is 22%. It is highly possible that these low rates are related to the high number of high school students taking Wilmington courses. Many of these students likely go on to other four-year colleges or universities upon high school graduation. Another reason could be that the university offers professional degree programs that often take more than the outlined graduation rate parameters, or professionals may take these classes as continuing education credits, without ever planning on earning a full degree.

Students at Wilmington University will have unfettered access to a variety of career services to assist with career planning, preparation, and placement. These tools and resources help to make the transition from one’s academic career to one’s professional career as seamless as possible. Within the services center, students will take career assessments to determine the ideal career path, and the degrees that support that path, for each student.

Also, students are able to explore careers, seek out career counseling, participate in career-related activities, and have exclusive access to online career resources. Career fairs are available, as well as job search training and assistance. And the center will assist all students, both online and in-person, with internships, co-ops, and full-time job placements.
