DeSales Tuition Cost & Financial Aid

Since DeSales is a private university, it’s not a cheap school. However, it does deliver in terms of high-quality academics and other features. The tuition for a year at DeSales is $39,000, to which approximately $1,500 is added for supplies and books. Students also need room and board which costs $13,000 for on-campus living. The school estimates that off campus living is close to $11,000, but that will depend on each student's rental agreements, budget, etc.

However, financial aid does play a role, so students needn't pay the full gross tuition. That is, the average net price (the cost after financial aid is applied) at DSU is $29,000. For the lowest income bracket, their net cost is $22,000 and the top income bracket pays $31,000. This is due to the fact that an astonishing 100% of DSU students receive grants or scholarships that average nearly $24,000 per student. Since that is virtually free money, student won't have to pay that money back, and it will never accrue interest.

Academics

The chief reason to attend a college is academic enrichment and DSU does not disappoint. The chief educational statistics are the retention and graduation rates, and DSU scores quite well on both. The retention rate measures the number of first-year students who return to campus for a second year. The thinking is that those who return do so because they find great value in the education, campus resources, and even the social life on campus. The graduation rate only reinforces the retention rate in that it shows how many stick around and complete their degrees.

DSU's 80% retention rate is rather high. Thus, first-year students are sure to experience great continuity from one year to the next. Then the graduation rate is also quite high. DSU students graduate at a rate of 69% and 23% transfer to another school and complete their degrees there. Thus, DSU provides a solid academic foundation for all of its students.

The key to this success may be found in DSU's class sizes. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 13 to 1, each student is sure to receive individual attention from their professors. Such small class sizes often indicate that students are able to pursue individual passions more easily.
