The student body is comprised of over 3,000 students and over 70% of the student body are undergraduates. Leaders at Faulkner are dedicated to providing an education that balances the word of God alongside in-demand career pathways. Students have the opportunity for continual education, from bachelor’s degrees to doctoral degrees in a variety of subject matter. Programs are based on liberal arts and instill a sense of morality, non-denominational practices, and spiritual leadership. All students will also be able to access student support systems, technology assistance, career services, and more. For a complete college experience, students can also participate in collegiate athletics, study abroad programs, intramural sports, marching band, student organizations, etc.

Faulkner University is a private higher learning institution; therefore, both in-state and out-of-state students pay the same amount, which is $22,310, for an undergraduate annual tuition rate. Up to $14,000 a year may also be necessary to pay for other education-related items such as supplies, room and board, lab fees, and books. Don’t forget to include other expenses in your annual budget for entertainment and lifestyle experiences off-campus.

Roughly 99% of students receive some form of financial aid, which helps to reduce the average net price to $19,990. The school offers many scholarships and financial awards to help keep these costs as low as possible for both new and current students such as the Founder’s Award, Trustee’s Award, President’s Award, Dean’s Award, Faulkner Merit Award, Alumni Award, and many others.

As part of the educational experience, students will be able to select from five colleges in a wide array of academics including business, arts and sciences, education, law, and biblical studies. Within these colleges, it’s possible to major in more than 60 on-campus majors and 23 majors are available online. Nearly all degree levels are available in many of these programs including bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral degrees, and professional adult programs.

The law school is one of a few ABA-accredited Alabama law schools. Online programs are also available in a growing number each year. There are currently 27 online programs and 15 degrees. Executive education programs continue to grow in popularity. Faulkner students benefit from an average class size of 10 to 15, an almost 50% minority student population, and three additional campuses offer in-person courses in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Mobile.

Community service opportunities are offered to all students as a way to boost community engagement and leadership participation. In fact, undergraduates typically volunteer 160 hours each year. A variety of centers and institutes are also available to enhance educational and personal experiences.

All of these attributes help to contribute to a reasonable retention rate of 61%. The graduation rates are quite a bit lower than the national average of 15% over four years and 33% over six years. Some of the reasons for these low statistics could be that students search for collegiate experiences not available at Faulkner after a few years, the coursework is more difficult than some students anticipate, or perhaps more students are participating in online degree programs.

The first place Faulkner students should look to begin preparing for a career is at the career services office. At this office, students will be able to utilize a wide range of services that provide advantages and benefits when looking for a job such as interviewing practice, networking, and resume writing. There is also a career resource center that offers career information, material for job searches, and an open computer lab with printing abilities.

Students can prepare for graduate school testing and courses, take free practice tests, take a personality assessment, and access MBA, law school, and medical school resources. Alumni and employers also have access to various career services, including the ability to post jobs and internships. And when alumni join the alumni association, they have access to even more benefits, including access to the job search database.
