Students can select from almost 50 bachelor’s degree programs and 30 master’s and doctoral degrees. Degree programs are continually updated and added to remain relevant to today’s employers and industries. Many program offerings are interdisciplinary in nature alongside applied learning as a way to maximize employment desirability. Programs are split between three campuses, and online degrees are also available.

Students can expect out-of-state tuition to be nearly double that of in-state tuition at $22,220 and $12,414, respectively. It will cost another estimated $20,000 or more to pay for basic daily living expenses such as room and board, supplies, books, and other various costs. Roughly 94% of students utilize some type of financial assistance to reduce the overall cost of tuition and living expenses through student loans, grants, or scholarships. This reduces the average net price to roughly $13,685.

Another way students bring down the cost of higher education is to work while they take classes. Some students will work on campus, whereas others will find work off campus. These jobs might be part-time work, internships, or full-time employment. Many jobs can provide relevant hands-on experience based on future career paths.

NJCU is home to a number of dedicated colleges including the arts and sciences, education, professional studies, and business. The leadership at NJCU strives to make the academic curriculum on par with other top educational institutions in the state. All programs incorporate specialized skill development as a way to enhance the learning experience. The campuses offer more than 40 departments, each with unique degree programs.

Class sizes are quite small with a respectable student-to-faculty ratio of 14 to 1 and a wide range of academic tools and resources available for each of the degree programs. In addition to these tools and resources, a number of centers exist, as well as academic workshops and tutoring services to provide even more hands-on experience. An honors college is open for students who excel in traditional programs. It’s also possible to pursue degrees online and to participate in study abroad programs. Many students choose to complete a professional education and participate in lifelong learning alternatives.

The NJCU retention rate is 73%. While this is a decent figure, the graduation rates of 13% for four years and 41% for six years are low compared to the national average around 60%. It is possible these undergraduate graduation rates are so low is due to the fact the school has a number of part-time students and transfer students. Another possibility is that students are not taking enough courses at one time because they are working.

Part of the successful placement of recent graduates is with the assistance of the school’s career center. Dedicated career services exist for undergraduates, graduate students, alumni, and faculty.
