Disability is a catch-all word that is often used to define those who are different than the norm. While this can include those who have problems with their vision, hearing, or mobility; it can also be used for those who have moderate to severe learning disorders, mental health issues, and other illnesses that cause permanent or ongoing problems. These scholarships are meant to help those who have a disability continue through higher education and bring their unique perspectives to their professional roles in a variety of industries. The organizations and schools that offer these scholarships understand that, what makes you different allows you to bring something new to the table. These are the types of professionals we need in a changing world.
